Packages
The two packages contain the same plugin; choose either one. After downloading, you can compare the SHA-256 checksum below to make sure the file is complete. The current version of both is 0.4.7, released on 2026-10-20. Downloads are rate-limited; if you are told that downloads are too frequent or that too many people are downloading today, please try again later, and contact us if you still cannot download.

System requirements
- OS
- Windows macOS and Linux are not supported yet
- Nuke
- 16 (tested) 13, 14, 15 and 17 are supported in the code (Python 3.7 and later) but not tested version by version; Nuke 12 and earlier are not supported
- Python
- Uses the Python built into Nuke; nothing else to install
- GPU
- No special requirements Generation runs on RunningHub's cloud; your computer only encodes, uploads and downloads. Rp Enhance runs on Topaz Video AI, third-party software you purchase and install yourself, on this computer or another computer on your local network; see its documentation for GPU requirements
- Network
- Access to runninghub.ai and api.pixrepaint.com Direct connection by default, ignoring the system proxy; if you need a proxy, check “Use proxy” in “Options…” and enter the proxy server address
- Accounts
- A RunningHub account on the international site (runninghub.ai) and a pixRepaint plugin account The plugin account is created in the plugin with “Activate…”, using a subscription code or the trial code 8888
- Language
- English or Chinese Chosen in the installer and changeable in the plugin under “语言 / Language”; takes effect after restarting Nuke
Installation
Methods 1 to 3 all install into your .nuke directory with the same result; choose any one. If your computer manages Nuke plugins through a shared plugin directory, use method 4.
Method 1: one-click installer
Double-click pixrepaint-0.4.7-setup.exe, choose the language and follow the prompts.
Method 2: install.bat
Unzip the zip package and double-click install.bat inside it.
Method 3: manual copy
Copy the whole unzipped pixrepaint folder to:
%USERPROFILE%\.nuke\pixrepaint\
If the HOME environment variable is set on the computer, install to %HOME%\.nuke\pixrepaint\ instead (the same order Nuke uses to find its .nuke directory). Then open menu.py in the same .nuke directory (usually %USERPROFILE%\.nuke\menu.py; create it if it does not exist) and add this line at the end:
import pixrepaint.menu
If the line is already there, you do not need to add it again.
Method 4: shared plugin directory
If your computer points the NUKE_PATH environment variable at a shared plugin directory (where each plugin has its own subfolder and loads automatically, for example a directory set up by a Nuke plugin installer tool), put the whole unzipped pixrepaint folder into that directory; there is no need to edit menu.py.
Duplicate installations
Use either methods 1 to 3 or method 4, not both. If pixRepaint is installed in both places, the plugin shows a message when Nuke starts, listing the location and version of each copy; remove the one you do not use as described under Uninstalling and restart Nuke. The one-click installer and install.bat also warn you if they find a copy of pixRepaint in a shared plugin directory; this is only a warning, and they do not delete anything from that directory.
After installing, restart Nuke; Nodes › pixRepaint appears in the node menu.
Security prompts when downloading and installing
The browser held back the installer
The installer is not code-signed yet and has few downloads so far, so after downloading, your browser may say the file “isn't commonly downloaded” or “may be dangerous” and not save it yet. The download has not failed and there is no need to download it again; keep the file as follows:
- Edge: in the downloads list, click “…” next to the file and choose “Keep”; when a prompt appears, click “Show more”, then “Keep anyway”.
- Chrome: in the downloads list, click the warning for the file and choose “Keep”.
- Security software: if your antivirus blocks or quarantines the installer, restore the file in that software and mark it as trusted, or use the zip package with Method 2 instead.
After keeping the file, you can compare it with the SHA-256 checksum above to make sure it matches the one published on this page.
SmartScreen prompt during installation
The installer is not code-signed yet, so Windows may show a SmartScreen prompt the first time you run setup.exe. Click “More info”, then “Run anyway” to continue. To avoid the prompt, install manually from the zip package instead.
Upgrading
To install a new version, install it again the same way as before: the one-click installer and install.bat replace the old version automatically; for a manual copy or a shared plugin directory, delete the old pixrepaint folder first and then put the new one in place. Settings files (pixrepaint_*.json in the .nuke directory) are kept, and you stay signed in with the API Keys saved on the computer. You can also update from inside Nuke with “Check for Updates…” in the pixRepaint menu.
Uninstalling
Uninstall the same way you installed:
- Installed with the one-click installer: find pixRepaint in Windows Settings › Apps and uninstall it.
- Installed with
install.bat or by manual copy: double-click uninstall.bat in the zip package.
- Installed in a shared plugin directory: delete the
pixrepaint folder from that directory.
Uninstalling from Windows Settings or with uninstall.bat removes only the installation directory and the import line added to menu.py. None of these methods delete the settings files, so you can continue where you left off after reinstalling.
Next steps
After installing and restarting Nuke, click the pixRepaint icon in the left-hand node toolbar and open Account & Licence › Activate…. Choose a username and password, enter the subscription code, choose the platform where your RunningHub account is, enter your RunningHub ID and an API Key under that ID (you can leave the key empty and add it later in “Manage Account…”), and click “Activate”.
- Subscription code: during the open beta, keep the trial code 8888 (pre-filled). The trial lasts 30 days from the first activation, once per RunningHub ID. See Free trial.
- Platform: choose “International site runninghub.ai”. The “View RunningHub ID” and “Get API Key” links in the window open the pages of the site you choose.
- RunningHub ID: sign in to RunningHub and open your profile page; the number of about 19 digits after “ID:” next to your nickname is your RunningHub ID.
- API Key: sign in to RunningHub and open the API Key page to copy or create an API Key (Consumer / Member or Enterprise / Shared).
To use an activated account on another computer, choose “Sign in…”. See Activation for detailed steps.
Third-party components
The plugin includes ffmpeg.exe (built by the FFmpeg project, licensed under GPL v3; the license text is in bin\LICENSE in the package, and the source code is available at ffmpeg.org), used to transcode uploads when “Transfer quality” is “Fast” and to convert returned videos. The plugin still works if you delete this file; only the Fast setting becomes unavailable.
The plugin also ships the official embeddable Python distribution (bin\python\, Python Software Foundation License; the license text is in bin\python\LICENSE.txt, see python.org). It is used only to run the service program on another computer on your local network when Rp Enhance uses Topaz Video AI installed there; the plugin itself uses the Python built into Nuke.
See the changelog for version history.
