Nuke AILocal video generation plugin

AI generation for traditional compositing workflows

In Nuke, draw a roto around an area, connect reference images and enter a prompt, and pixRepaint generates new imagery inside the mask, frame by frame, blending naturally with the original plate: add objects or characters, change how things look, or generate content that follows a structure guide such as a 3D wireframe. Results return to your node graph automatically and everything outside the mask stays unchanged. Submitting jobs and retrieving results all happen inside Nuke, and generation runs on RunningHub cloud compute, so your workstation does not need a high-end GPU.

A pirate ship added to a live-action lake

The plate is a handheld shot of a lakeshore. The reference image of the pirate ship was generated with Rp I Edit, connected through Rp M Refs and referenced in the prompt. With a roto drawn around the lake surface, pixRepaint generates, frame by frame inside the mask, a pirate ship that breaks through the water and sails on, with the hull and spray staying locked to the water as the camera moves; the crowd on the shore outside the mask is left exactly as shot.

Structure control: a building generated from a 3D wireframe

The red lines on the plate are a growing building wireframe animated in 3D software, connected to the control input of Rp M Paint as a structure guide; the look of the building follows a reference image generated with Rp I Edit. The traditional building rises with the wireframe from the base through the walls to the roof, matching its position, scale and perspective and staying stable as the camera moves, while the railing in the foreground remains in front of it.

An anime character added to live action

An anime-style character is added to a handheld shot of a public square, with the character's design following a reference image generated with Rp I Edit. As the camera tilts up and pushes in, the character stays standing on the same spot of ground, with scale and perspective matching the plate; the crowd outside the mask is left unchanged.

Features

Core nodes

The plugin provides standard Nuke nodes under the Nodes › pixRepaint menu. Inputs, parameter panels and result nodes follow Nuke conventions and fit straight into existing node graphs.

Rp M Paint

Local video generation

The core repaint node. Connect the source footage to source, a grayscale mask to mask, reference material to refs and, optionally, a structure-control video to control. Without a mask, the whole frame is repainted.

Rp M Paint Pass2 Upscale

Second-pass upscale

Connect it to a repaint result node and it reuses the previous step's prompt, references and anchors automatically; each of them can be changed separately when needed.

Rp M Refs

Reference material

Combines reference images, anchor images and reference videos into a single input for the repaint node. Each input takes a single item directly; join several items with an AppendClip first.

Rp Control

Structure guide

Generates a depth map or line art from live-action footage or 3D renders, ready to connect to the control input of Rp M Paint to constrain the spatial structure of the result. The depth map can also be used directly in compositing.

Rp M Motion Fix

Motion fix

Repairs smearing and motion blur caused by fast movement or whip pans: only the blurred frames are regenerated, while all other frames keep the plate.

Rp M Remove

Removalexperimental

Removes people or objects inside the roto and fills in the background; long shots are generated in segments.

Rp ColorMatch

Color matching

Uses cloud compute to match the color and tonality of target to ref. Without a roto it matches the whole frame; with a roto connected it samples only inside the mask and applies the resulting grade to the whole frame.

Rp Enhance

Enhancement

Drives your own installed and signed-in copy of Topaz Video AI to restore image quality, upscale and create slow motion, with results returning to the node graph automatically.

Topaz Video AI is third-party software that you purchase, install and sign in to yourself; pixRepaint does not provide or sell it.

Rp I Edit

Single-frame edit

Edits a single frame from a one-sentence instruction and can replace the masked area with content from reference images; without a source frame it generates a new image from reference images or text.

Rp I Upscale

Single-frame upscale

Upscales a single frame by 1 to 4×, repainting it in tiles to add detail while keeping its original structure. For video, use Rp M Paint Pass2 Upscale or Rp Enhance.

Colored nodes are pixRepaint nodes; gray nodes are built into Nuke.

A typical pixRepaint node graph The source Read node connects to the source input of Rp M Paint, a Roto connects to the mask input, and reference images connect to the refs input through an AppendClip and Rp M Refs. After Rp M Paint runs on RunningHub it creates a result node, which then connects to Rp M Paint Pass2 Upscale for the upscaled result. source mask refs Read · sh010_plate Roto1 Read · ref_look.jpg AppendClip1 Rp M Refs Rp M Paint local video generation sh010_rp_out Rp M Paint Pass2 Upscale sh010_rp_up RunningHub RunningHub
  1. Draw the mask and connect references

Draw a roto at the project resolution and connect it to the mask input; connect reference and anchor images to Rp M Refs and reference them in the prompt with tags such as <Picture 1>.

  2. Submit to RunningHub

The plugin encodes the source footage according to “Transfer quality” and uploads it to your RunningHub account; the job uses that account's RH coins. Upload progress and speed, queue status and job progress are all shown on the node panel.

  3. Results return to the node graph

A result node is created automatically when the job finishes. For a higher resolution, connect a second-pass upscale node; crop-mode results can create a paste-back node with one click.

Costs
  • RunningHub: generation consumes RH coins from your own RunningHub account, paid to RunningHub. Free accounts can call the API, but jobs may wait longer in the queue and fewer RH coins are included; see RunningHub's website for membership options and prices.
  • pixRepaint: free during the open beta, using the trial code 8888. Paid plans for international users will be announced on this site.
Data security

Footage is uploaded by the plugin directly to your own RunningHub account and does not pass through our servers. Your API Key is stored only on your computer and sent only to RunningHub; our servers neither receive nor store it. The licence server receives account and licence information such as your username, password (only an irreversible hash is kept), redeemed subscription codes, RunningHub ID, machine label and a hash of the machine identifier. See the Privacy policy.

Open beta

Free during the open beta

pixRepaint for RunningHub's international site is in open beta. Every node and feature is available free of charge with the trial code 8888; no application or payment is needed.

Good to know

Generation runs on RunningHub and consumes RH coins from your own RunningHub account, including during the trial; these charges are paid to RunningHub and are separate from pixRepaint. The number of jobs that can actually run at the same time is also limited by your RunningHub account and API Key type.

Paid plans for international users, with more computers and concurrent jobs, will be announced on this site. If you would like to keep using pixRepaint after your trial ends, please contact us at pixRepaint@163.com.

If your RunningHub account is on the China site (runninghub.cn), please see our Chinese website.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a high-end GPU?

No. Model inference runs on RunningHub's cloud; your computer only encodes, uploads and downloads, so any Nuke workstation that handles your footage is enough. Topaz Video AI, used by Rp Enhance, runs on your own computer or another computer on your local network; see Topaz's own documentation for its hardware requirements.

How long is the trial and how do I start?

During the open beta the trial lasts 30 days from the first activation, with one computer signed in at a time and up to 3 concurrent jobs, and no application is needed. Sign up at RunningHub's international site (runninghub.ai), then download and install the plugin.

In Nuke, open “Activate…” under “Account & Licence”, choose a username and password, keep the trial code 8888 in the subscription code field, choose “International site runninghub.ai” as the platform, enter your RunningHub ID and API Key, and click “Activate”. Each RunningHub ID can use the trial once, and linking a different RunningHub ID does not grant another trial. Jobs during the trial use RH coins from your own RunningHub account. See Free trial for details.

How much will RunningHub charge?

It depends on the number of frames and the resolution of the shot. We are still measuring RH coin usage per shot and will publish the figures here.

We recommend running a few test shots first to see the actual usage on your account.

How long does a shot take?

Measured on RunningHub on 15 September 2026: repaint jobs of 60 to 100 frames took 87 to 149 seconds each, and a 1.2× upscale took 87 seconds.

Actual times depend on the platform queue, resolution and frame count, and upload time from your location; these figures are for reference only.

Do my footage and API Key pass through pixRepaint's servers?

No. Footage is uploaded by the plugin directly to your own RunningHub account. Your API Key is stored only in the plugin settings on your computer and is sent only to RunningHub; our servers neither receive nor store it.

Our licence server receives account and licence information: your username, password (the server keeps only an irreversible hash), redeemed subscription codes, RunningHub ID, the machine label you set and a hash of the machine identifier, plus the plugin version and the matching RunningHub task IDs when you submit jobs. For security, the server access logs record the visiting IP address and keep it for at least 6 months. See the Privacy policy for details.

Which Nuke versions and operating systems are supported?

Windows is supported. Nuke 16 has been tested; Nuke 13, 14, 15 and 17 are supported in the code (Python 3.7 and later) but have not been tested version by version, so please contact us if you run into problems.

macOS, Linux and Nuke 12 or earlier are not supported.

Windows shows a security warning during installation. What should I do?

The installer is not code-signed yet, so Windows SmartScreen may show a warning the first time it runs. Click “More info”, then “Run anyway” to continue. You can also install manually from the zip package; see Download and installation.

How do I keep working on a new computer?

Install the plugin on the new computer and sign in with the same username and password via “Sign in…” under “Account & Licence”; you do not need to enter the subscription code or RunningHub ID again. API Keys are stored only on the original computer, so add yours again with “Add Key” in “Manage Account…” on the new computer.

If the account already has the maximum number of machines signed in for its plan, the plugin lists the account's machines when you sign in; sign one out to continue. A signed-in computer can also use “Sign out a machine” in “Manage Account…”, up to 3 times per account per hour, and machines that stay idle for more than an hour are released automatically.

Can I keep working if I lose my internet connection?

If a signed-in computer briefly cannot reach the licence server, the plugin keeps submitting jobs with its locally cached licence; after a certain time it needs to go online to refresh the licence. Because jobs run on RunningHub's cloud, the plugin cannot be used fully offline.
